Our Management Board is the governing body of Sucden and all of the Group’s major executive decisions are taken under its mandate. Members of the Board have the vision, experience and expertise to drive the business forward, to accept responsibility for our corporate developments and to be accountable for our results and achievements.
Serge Varsano
Chairman of the Management Board, Sucden
Serge Varsano, the son of Maurice Varsano, has presided over the destiny of Sucden in the last four decades. He began as a trader in 1976, was promoted to General Manager of the sugar trading division in 1980, and then became Chief Executive Officer in 1986. Two years later he was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. Serge Varsano studied in the USA at the Business School of the University of Southern California.
Thierry Songeur
General Manager, Sucden
Thierry Songeur began his career in auditing with Coopers and Lybrand in France and then in banking with Banco Frances & Brasileiro in Brazil. He joined Sucden Group Brazil in 1986 and served in the rice trading division from 1988 until 1992. After a short spell with Gyma International (France), he rejoined Sucden in 1996 at our Paris headquarters and covered various sugar markets in Eastern Europe and Africa. One year later he relocated to Sucden Americas in the USA and was appointed President and CEO in 1997. He became member of the Management Board in 2010. He has been promoted General Manager as from January 1st 2019 and has moved back to Paris. He graduated from Rouen Business School in France in 1983.
Thierry Bourvis
General Manager, Sucden
Since joining in 1980, Thierry Bourvis has devoted his professional career to Sucden through successive steps as Treasurer of Paris sugar trading subsidiary, Finance Manager of the meat export division, Finance Manager of oil trading and then Sucden Finance Manager. He was appointed to the Group Management Board in 1996 and became General Manager in 2016. Thierry Bourvis is a graduate of HEC Paris, France’s leading business school.
Emanuel Garboua
Global Head of Cocoa and Coffee Trading
Emanuel Garboua started his career with Sucden in 1997, where he joined the white sugar trading team. In 2004 he was involved in setting up Sucden Middle-East in Dubai. He was appointed Managing Director of Sucden Middle East in 2010 and Director of Sucden India in 2012. In 2017 he moved back to Paris as Head of White Sugar Trading and Distribution EMEA and Far East. In 2018, he became member of the Management Board. Global Head of Cocoa and Coffee Trading. In 2020, he was appointed Global Head of Cocoa and Coffee Trading. Emanuel graduated from l’Institut Européen des Affaires (IEA), a French Business School.
